The Cyradon Wiki

The idea to have a wiki for Cyradon, the first gaming world for the roleplaying game HARP, originated on the ICE forums. ICE, the company that is responsible for HARP and Cyradon, has quite an active fan base that they care for very well, so after some thought and scratching some heads the wiki was born.

If you know Wikipedia, you have a good idea about what this Cyradon wiki is. It's a collection of articles that users jointly create and maintain or change. Only, we don't try to be an online-encyclopedia (with an article for encyclopedia things, such as this), we try to be a comprehensive online resource for Cyradon. We want to have articles about places, history and people in Cyradon.

In addition, there are two more very important differences between Wikipedia and this:

  • In Wikipedia, everything is in the "public domain" - the information there belongs to everyone. Here, everything belongs to ICE. Once you put it here, it's theirs. That's the rule. If you don't like that, you shouldn't publish anything here. This has to be the case, so noone sues them once they publish new stuff which conincides with information here, or if they use anything from here. Which would be pretty cool, don't you think?
  • In return, ICE puts a lot of information in here for free. The articles in the namespace "Ironcrown" are what they mean to put here, right out of the book. This information is usually included (and marked as official) in the respective article.
  • All the "normal" articles (without any prefix like "Help:" or "Ironcrown:") are fan-created. They often include the official Ironcrown article, but expand on it.

When you write here...

  • This wiki is not for publishing many different versions of Cyradon, but to create one bigger and more complete version together. The common articles should be written in a manner so that every GM or player can agree with it. It should result logically from the canonical information by ICE.
  • Of course, different versions and different ideas are still very good. We want your ideas! Therefore, the common articles provide the opportunity to add adventure seeds or story ideas. Just create an article in the appropriate namespace called "Idea". To do this, just search for "Idea:whatever you want you're article to be called" and click on "Create this article" after that.

Wiki formatting

There is a dedicated page about the formatting of a wiki at Help:Editing. Please consult that page, which will always be available when editing pages as a link underneath the text field.

Writing adventures/ adventure seeds

When you plan to publish a whole adventure, please follow the guidelines given at Help:Adventures. For adventure seeds, just put them on the appropriate page (an adventure that takes place in the coliseum should be in the coliseum article under the heading "Story Ideas" or "Adventure Seeds" or similar.
